San Antonio isn’t just where I work. It’s home — and I know what it costs to leave it.
I met my husband Adam here while he was stationed at Joint Base San Antonio. I built my life here — my career, my community, my roots. Then the Army said it was time to go.
We were supposed to move to Germany. The house was packed. Adam left in April, and I stayed behind to finish out the school year before following him overseas. In May, the orders changed. Washington State. No Germany. New timeline. New everything.
I had to call my job and ask for it back. I had to repack. I had to reroute our whole life — while we were growing our family, on a military timeline that doesn’t stop to ask how you’re feeling about it.
That experience taught me something no real estate course ever could: a relocation isn’t just a move. It’s your whole life being picked up and set down somewhere new, on someone else’s schedule, with no room for error.
